Maintaining Codes on the Fly

From many other windows in Abacus, you can access the Valid Entries window when you select to populate a field with a code. This window shows a list of codes for a particular code type. To verify which code type you are viewing codes for, look in window title and you will see "Valid XXX Entries" where XXX represents the code type.

From this window you can add, edit, delete or print codes for the selected code type on the fly.

To add a code

  1. From the Valid Entries window, click Add.

  2. The New Code window appears. Enter the name of the new code and click Done.

  3. The Code Description window appears. Enter a description for the code and click Done.

  4. The new code appears listed in the Valid Entries grid. Click Done to save your changes and close the Valid Entries window.

To edit a code

  1. From the Valid Entries window, highlight the code you want to edit and click Edit.

  2. The Code Editor Window appears. Edit the name and description of the code as necessary and click Done.

  3. Click Done in the Valid Entries window to save your changes and close the window.

To delete a code

  1. From the Valid Entries window, highlight the code you want to delete and click Delete.

  2. A window appears asking you if you are sure you want to delete the code. Click Yes.

To print a code

From the Valid Entries window, click Print. The Report Control window appears. Select your options for the report and click Print.
