Color and Background Setup Window

The Color and Background Setup window is used to edit the settings for a background profile. To open this window, select File > Setup > User Preferences and select the Appearance tab. Then, click Background Profile.

The following describes the changes you can make to the selected background profile from this window. Click Apply to see the effects of changes without saving. When you are happy with your changes, click Done to save.

NOTE: The Colors buttons select solid colors, and the Background buttons select images.

Main Window

This section controls the colors or background images used for the main window.

Colors

If you want to use solid colors for the main window, click the Colors button and select one of the following menu options:

  • Underlying Color: Changes the underlying color of the window. When you select this option, the Color window appears. Select a color and click OK.

  • Menu Color: Changes the menu bar background color. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; (2) select Match Toolbar’s background color to match the menu bar background color with the first pixel color of the toolbar so the menu can flow nicely into the toolbar; or (3) select Windows’ default to use your normal Windows menu color. If you want the menu bar background color you picked to apply to submenus as well, check Apply Color to SubMenus.

  • ToolBar Color: Changes the toolbar background color. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; (2) select Match Main Window background color to match the toolbar background color with the first pixel color of the main window; or (3) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

  • Dialog Background Color: Changes the background color of Abacus windows. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

  • Dialog Text Color: Changes the color of text in Abacus windows. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

  • Field Background Color: Changes the color of field boxes. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

  • Field Fly-over Color: Changes the color of the field box outline when the mouse cursor is hovering over the field. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

  • Inactive Field Border Color: Changes the color of a field that is not in edit mode. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

  • Focused Field Border Color: Changes the color of a field that is in edit mode, meaning that the cursor is inside the field box. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Windows’ Default to use your normal Windows toolbar color.

Background

If you want to use images for the main window, click the Background button and select one of the following menu options:

  • Window Background: Changes the image for the window background. When you select this option, a window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.

  • Toolbar Background: Changes the image for the toolbar background. When you select this option, a window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.

  • Toolbar Icon Set: Changes the button images for the toolbar. When you select this option, a window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.

  • Menu Background: Changes the image for the menu bar background. When you select this option, a window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.

  • Apply Color to SubMenus: Check If you want the selected menu background to apply to submenus as well.

  • Nameplate Image: To change the nameplate image. When you select this menu option, a window appears listing all image choices. Select the image and click Open.

  • Nameplate Font: To change the font for the nameplate label text. When you select this menu option, the Font window appears. Select the font type, style, and size and click OK.

  • Nameplate Color: To change the color of the nameplate label text. When you select this menu option, the Color window appears. Select a color and click OK.

Name Window, Event Window, Matter Window

These sections control the colors or background images used for the Name, Event, and Matter windows.

Colors

If you want to use solid colors for the Name/Event/Matter window, click the Colors button in the appropriate section and select one of the following menu options:

  • Headline/Label/Field Text: Changes the color of headline/label/field text. When you select this option, the Color window appears. Select a color and click OK.

  • Headline/Label/Field background: Changes the color of headline/label/field backgrounds. Do one of the following: (1) select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; (2) select Same as Window to match the headline/label/field background color with the first pixel color of the window.

Background

If you want to use images for the Name/Event/Matter window background, click the Background button in the appropriate section and select the type of window you want to change. When you select this option, a window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.

If you want all window types to have the same background image, select Same background for all pages. When you select this option, a window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.

Transparent Fields in Name and Matter windows

Controls how field boxes appear on the Name and Matter windows. Select one of the following:

  • Don't show boxes around input fields: When selected, only a background color will display for input fields. A border will not appear.

  • Show boxes around input fields: When selected, a border and background color will display for input fields.

  • Only show borders around input fields: When selected, only a border will display for input fields

  • User Preferences settings: When selected, the user preference settings for input fields will be used to determine how to display input fields.

Notes

This section controls the colors used for notes.

Colors

Click the Colors button and select one of the following menu options:

  • Names & Matters Note Text: Changes the color of note text. When you select this option, the Color window appears. Select a color and click OK.

  • Names & Matters Note background: Changes the color of note backgrounds. Do one of the following: (1) Select Pick a color to open the Color window, select a color, and click OK; or (2) select Same as Window to match the note background color with the first pixel color of the window the note appears in.

Browses

This section controls the colors or background images used for Browse windows.

Colors

Click the Colors button and select one of the menu options appropriate for the item you want to change. The Color window appears. Select a color and click OK.

Background

Click the Background button and select one of the menu options appropriate for the item you want to change. A window appears with image selections. Select an image and click Open.
