Tapi Support for Fonality

Dialer

If you use the Fonality phone system, you can have buttons in the Abacus Name window dial the phone for you.

“Screen pops”

This is the popular nickname for popping up a Name window automatically when your phone rings and CallerID has a phone number that belongs to one of your Name records.

TAPI Support for Other Systems

If you have a different TAPI-compliant phone system, the Dialer will probably work for you after you identify your TAPI Service Provider (the name of a special DLL for your phone system).

Screen Pops are very specific to each phone system, and we cannot guarantee we can make it work with yours—but we’ll try!  Just call tech support and supply the details about your system.

Skype

If you have a Skype-to-landline account, you can direct Abacus to use the Skype TAPI Service Provider to dial through that account.

Make sure Skype4COM.dll is in the System32 directory and registered via regsvr32.exe.

Then, open lawwin.ini and add:

[TAPI]

TSP=SKYPE

UseTapiDialer = [data directory path, for example, c:\Abacus\v23\data01]

NOTE: Lawwin.ini is located in \users\[username]\AppData\local\VirtualStore\windows\lawwin.ini.

Make sure Skype is installed and a user is logged on. Abacus will run Skype if it is not running.

The first time you make a call, Skype will display an access request for Lawwin.exe to use Skype. Click Allow Access.

Screen Pops are not yet supported for Skype. Please call and let us know if you are interested.
