Email and Internet Commands

If a field in a Law database contains an e-mail address, you can right-click on the field and select Email from the context menu. By default, Law will attempt to run your existing email program (for example, MS Outlook, Netscape, or Eudora) based on the Windows Registry. If for any reason your email is not set up as Windows expects, you may not see anything happen. In this case, you need to read the manual or online Help for your email program to find out what the command is that starts a new message.

If the default handling doesn't work, you can go to File > Setup > User Preferences and tell Law exactly what command to run to start an e-mail message. Because there are so many email programs, variations in versions, and other variables on a given machine, Law lets you enter a completely different command for your particular setup. A listbox of other options is available, but none of them is guaranteed to work for a particular program. You should try the default logic first (leave the setting blank in User Preferences) and only try other commands if it doesn't work.
