Changing Your Modem Settings

  1. Click the Call Mgr button on the toolbar.

  2. Click the Modem Setup button.

  3. Change the settings for the window as necessary:

    1. Dial all numbers literally: When selected, the Phone Dialer will dial numbers exactly as they are written.

    2. COM Port: The COM Port that your modem is configured to use. If you are unsure, you can cycle through 1-4 until the phone dialer functions.

    3. Local area code: Your local area code. Be sure to enter this field so the area code will not be dialed when calling local numbers.

    4. Long distance: The number you dial to get national long distance (usually 1). You can also include access codes if necessary.

    5. International: The number you dial to get international long distance (usually 011).

    6. Other Prefix: Other number(s) you must dial during phone usage for your firm. For example, many companies require you to dial 9 to access an outside line. NOTE: You can use commas to create a pause when dialing other prefixes.

    7. Suffix: Any suffix numbers you might have to use. Suffix numbers are sometimes used in telephony products to identify who has made the call, as in automated billing.

  4. Click OK.
