Overview of Exchange/Office 365 Sync
Exchange/Office 365 Sync lets you synchronize Microsoft Outlook contact and calendar data with Abacus name and event data directly to Office 365 or Exchange servers. This sync happens on a defined interval by a Windows service, even if you are not logged into AbacusLaw. Events and Names will be visible wherever you view that data, on your phone that uses Activesync, in desktop Outlook or in the Outlook Web Access (OWA).
You can perform a two-way synchronization by sending Outlook data to Abacus and Abacus data to Outlook, or you can perform a one-way synchronization by removing all Outlook data and sending Abacus data to Outlook.
Exchange/Office 365 Sync requires an Outlook 365 email account or an email account through a hosted Exchange mail server. Abacus Private Cloud (APC) users purchasing email hosting through AbacusNext meet this requirement.
Important Notes about Exchange/Office 365 Sync
-
When the full synchronization runs (after Exchange/Office 365 Sync is enabled), the synchronization does NOT check for AbacusLaw Done events.
-
Invitations for meetings for which you are not the organizer will not be sent through synchronization. This will prevent duplicate meetings from being created in Outlook. However, if the organizer changes a meeting detail, such as date/time, subject, or body, then a new meeting will be created through synchronization and the user will need to handle duplication in Outlook manually.
-
Meetings for which you are not the organizer will not be automatically deleted through synchronization. This means that if the organizer deletes the meeting, you need to delete the meeting in Outlook manually.
