Customization Checklist for Scheduling Events

Before you schedule events, you can do the following to customize the process.

Customize holidays : The default holidays for Abacus probably do not match your firm's holidays exactly. Set up your own holidays in Abacus.

Set up rules : Rules are optional, but they can help you automate and manage the scheduling of tried-and-true processes, like all the customary tasks that have to be performed when you accept a new client.

Customizing the calendars : You can change some things about calendars. Note that when you customize calendars you can color-code events. For example, you can show each person's events in different colors. Or, if you like, you can show different types of events (trials, depositions, etc.) in different colors.

Customize dates : You can change the way dates and times work and appear when scheduling events by changing the Date format setting on the System Options window.

Automatically reschedule events landing on weekends : You can set up Abacus so that when events that are automatically scheduled fall on the weekend, they will be automatic rescheduled according to your settings. You do this by adjusting the settings under Events on the System Options window.

Automatically update Things To Do events : You can set up Abacus so that when Things To Do events do not get done on the assigned day, they will automatically be moved to the next day. You do this by turning on Update TO-DOs on startup on the System Options window.

Customize the Event window : The Event window can be changed so that it is more aesthetically pleasing to your eye. You can do this by changing the settings on the Appearance tab of the User Preferences window.

Customize fields : You can customize the fields that appear on the Event Window.
